Obituary for Gloria Kimbrough

An angel was birthed on April 4, 1949. Gloria Bernetta Kimbrough was born in Columbia, MO to John E. Bass and Allie B. (Tucker) Bass. The second of two children born to this union, Gloria later became a resident of Kansas City, MO where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1967.
Out of her 1st marriage, Vincent P. Jackson, Jr. was born. Later in years she divorced and re-married Larry L. Kimbrough. Of this union, Lawrence L. Kimbrough and Joshua J. Kimbrough were born.
During her mid-twenties, while working for Commerce Bank, she accepted Christ and has been on-fire ever since sharing with others about the goodness of God. Her contagious smile and loving spirit fill the room whenever she is around. Anyone who knows Gloria, knows she meets no stranger, nor is shy in ministering the word of God. Albeit, at work or on the streets, everyone knew this woman loved the Lord, loved traveling, and loved her family.
In addition to enjoying singing, dancing, and worshipping, Gloria also enjoyed learning. Having received her associate degree in bookkeeping, she discovered another passion – helping others with their finances. After 15 years at Commerce Bank, Gloria left to begin her own crusade to help churches, small businesses, and non-profits with their accounting needs. She worked for several churches, non-profits, and local entrepreneurs, helping them structure and organize their businesses. Later, she returned to the banking community working for First Federal, DST, and finally retiring from American Century Investments.
Gloria never stopped loving and never stopped serving with a smile, even when she had been given a report of cancer within her body. Many would probably confess, they never knew the struggles she faced, because she never complained about herself and always looked to help others.
As an avid member of New Life in Christ International Ministries, she was a part of several ministries, from the Brother’s Keeper, Street outreach, Education, and Helping Hands, to name a few. What an angel, many would deem her; a true angel on Earth she was.
This angel has now taken flight back to the heavenly host of so many other angels which have been born upon this Earth, on May 9th, 2020. Gloria, no doubt, will be missed. A woman of her disposition and spirit is rare. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband.
She leaves wonderful memories with her sons, Vincent Jack (Alex), of Dallas, Texas, Lawrence Kimbrough and Joshua Kimbrough of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Larry Kimbrough of Kansas City, MO; brother, John Bass (Patti) of Raytown, MO; two aunts, Arlen Tucker and Ilean Brooke of Columbia, MO; three sisters-in-law, Kay McKelvy of Kansas City, MO, Mary Kimbrough of Edwardsville, MO, and Doris Kimbrough of Leavenworth, KS; two brothers-in-law, Delbert Kimbrough of Kansas City, KS and Freddie Morris of Detroit, MI; her bonus son Andrew Flenoy of Addison, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We love you, Gloria and glad you will be looking over us to cheer us and keep us encouraged. We count it all joy. We realize the joy of the Lord will be our strength in the coming days.
