Avialee was born in West Grove Iowa to Everett Otho Cooley and Iva Francis (Hollon) Cooley. She was 3 1/2 years old when her mother died and was raised by her second mother, Nona Pearl (Smith) Cooley. Avialee’s childhood was spent traveling, as Everett was an
evangelist, in Southern Iowa, Central Missouri and Northern Arkansas. She met her future husband Milford Arnold Burns, as Everett conducted services in 1941-1942 at Pearson Branch Church in Climax Springs Missouri. Avialee’s mother bought her first piano when Avialee was 7 years old. She blessed many people with her music and taught many how to play. Avialee wrote hundreds of beautiful hymns of praise. She continued to play beautifully through her life. Avialee as a young woman worked in Ottumwa, Iowa at a dry cleaners, She played in a four accordion band and sang gospel on the radio. Avialee was married to Milford Arnold Burns on August 8, 1946 in Ottumwa Iowa, when Milford returned from the height of battles in the South Pacific, during WW11. They were married 65 years at the time of Milford’s passing away. Milford was active in the ministry all his life. Avialee was active with him, playing and singing for him and the Lord. They pastured in Lebanon, Missouri, Wichita, Kansas, Ft. Worth, Texas, Bell Gardens, California, and Jonesboro, Arkansas, and in Jamaica. They returned to Kansas City, Kansas and Belton Missouri, for the duration. They also ministered in Jerusalem Israel, in three month stints, for fifteen years, starting in 1988. Milford and Avialee worked in the blown glass business starting in 1975, for fifteen years. Avialee also enjoyed her church family, fishing, gardening and writing. She wrote her life’s story, “Full Circle. Avialee was proceeded in death by her husband, Milford Arnold Burns, sister, Mary Katherine Stevens, brother Earl Seldon Cooley, Son, William Milford Burns, daughter Zoe Elaine McKinley, 3 grandsons, William Michael McKinley, James Wray, McKinley, Rickey Wade McKinley Avialee is survived by daughters Von Marie Burns, Janice Laree (Lee) Horner, April Louise (Mike) England, son-in-law Michael McKinley, son David Moshe (Angie) Burns, many grandkids and great grandkids. She will be greatly missed by many who loved her.
