Obituary for Wayne Eugene Thompson

Wayne Eugene Thompson, 69, of Oak Grove, MO passed away on May 11, 2020. He was born on October 4, 1950 in Leavenworth, KS to Charles and Irene (Salley) Thompson. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam, and worked as a mechanic for the railroad from 1978 to 2005. He was a member of the Unite Methodist Church. In his free time, Wayne enjoyed working on cars, going to fairs and concerts, he volunteered at the hospital. Summer was his favorite season, and he loved eating Snickers bars. Wayne was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and he won many awards from the railroad.  He is survived by his children: Jeffrey Thompson, Shawn Thompson, and Melissa Mehmedagic; his ex-wife Tammy Godard; siblings: Calvin, Newt, and Pearl; 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Thompson and Irene Smith, and siblings: Barbara, Charlie, Charleen, Louis, Gloria, and Donna. Wayne will be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
