Life’s Reflections

Tommie G. Scott, 72, was born June 3, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas to Minnie and Tommie G. Scott, Sr. He departed this life peacefully on July 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by both his parents; three brothers, Steve, Paul & Larry; brother-in-law Leon Yancy; a niece and


Tommie received his education in the Kansas City, KS school district and graduated from Sumner High School in 1966. He was employed at Sunshine Biscuit and later at Kansas City, KS Water Pollution. After working his way through the ranks as a laborer, Tommie retired after 36 years of service as a superintendent. During his career, he worked and received multiple accolades as a Unified Government Employee. Tommie was well respected and admired by his peers, direct reports and executive managers. He was a fun-loving and charismatic man known to all who knew and loved him as “Bug”


Tommie married Judith Parker in 1967 and to that union three children were born, Karen, Courtney, & Brandon. He later married Julia Scott in 1995. Tommie leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Julia Scott, two daughters, Karen R. (Daris) Patterson and Courtney E. Weaver; one son Brandon J. Scott; five sisters, Ellawease Yancy, Vallorie (Steve) Hudson, Carolyn (Robert) Banks, Brenda (Michael) Jones, and Stephanie Scott; five brothers, Phillip Scott, Gary Scott, Mark (Jacqueline) Scott, Victor Scott, and Brad Scott; six grandchildren, Daris, Darian, Marcus, Elija, Caryna, and Genuine; one sister-in-law, Cynthia Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
