Obituary for Roger Lee Marshall

Roger Lee Marshall, 73, of Farley, Missouri passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at St. Luke's Mid-America Heart Institute, Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 15, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas, the second child of George and Mildred (Kirkman) Marshall, Jr.
Roger graduated from Basehor High School, Basehor, Kansas in 1963. He enlisted in the Kansas National Guard in 1968 while he was employed at Leavenworth County Co-op, Lansing, Kansas. He was activated in 1969 and served at Fort Carson, Colorado. After he returned, he resumed his position at Leavenworth County Co-op. His next position was at YRC Trucking where he became #1 driver and had 3 million accident-free miles before he retired. Roger retired from driving a truck in 2009 but began his second career developing a lawn mowing and snow plowing business.
His great love was restoring old tractors, attending tractor shows and being in parades. He considered his greatest accomplishment finding the gold 1959 tractor that his family had on the family farm in Basehor, Kansas. "Goldie" and Roger were annual participants in many local parades and tractor shows.
Roger is survived by his children: Roger (Kim), John (Shauna), Michelle Humes (Parker), Samantha Hendrix (Jeff), and Tim Lee (Kathryn); his brother Steve (Shirley) and sister Jane (George); 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. His parents, George and Mildred Marshall are deceased. Visitation will be at the Highland Park Funeral Home Chapel, 4101 State Ave, Kansas City, Kansas 66102 on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 27 at the Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Roger will be laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, Kansas.
