Obituary for Phillip "Joe" J. Brune

Phillip J. "Joe" Brune, 62, took flight for his final journey to the open arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 6, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Joe was born August 31, 1957 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Raymond G. (Sr.) and Rose E.(Cox) Brune. He married Brenda Thiessen on June 15, 1974 in Weston, MO.
Joe worked at the battery factory in Leavenworth before becoming a truck driver in 1986. He owned his own dump truck, driving for multiple companies, including Domino's Pizza Distribution in Overland Park, KS. and retiring from Estes Express Lines in Kansas City, KS.
Joe was an avid NASCAR fan, attending many races with his friends and being a season ticket holder at the Kansas Speedway. He also enjoyed watching KU Basketball ad the Kansas City Chiefs. He was overjoyed when the chiefs won the Superbowl. He enjoyed camping with his wife Brenda, sitting on the banks fishing and riding his Harley Davidson. He loved spending time with his family and friends and always reminiscing about the good times and fun they all shared.
Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda, of the home; his son Shawn, of Leavenworth; 3 grandchidren: Dylan and Elaina Brune, of Texas, and Devin Brune of Leavenworth; one sister: Frankie (Robert) Meza; one brother George (Pam) Brune, Leavenworth; Father in law Dick Thiessen, FL; mother in law Carol Anfinson, WA; 6 sisters in law: Nancy Kerns, AZ, Linda (Richard) Puckett, FL, Carol (Leon) Vargo, MN, Teresa Mitchell (Dell), WA, Theresa Barnes, MO, and Jodi (Greg) Prolago, GA; his fur baby Sasha, whom he adored, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's honor to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, or online at (See Link below).
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles Lodge, 20th and Cherokee, Leavenworth, KS on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 1-4 p.m. Terry Booker Catering.
If you knew Joe, then you know he wasn't big on suits and ties, so Brenda would like everyone to wear a NASCAR, Harley Davidson, KU, or Chiefs shirt. Or "Come as you are!"
