Obituary for Marilyn Renee' Lee

Marilyn R. Lee, 62, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. She was born on November 10, 1957 to Nancy Louise (Brown) and James Henry Lee. She was a graduate of Wyandotte High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in Track and Field where she was the first African-American girl to throw the shot put in 1975. She also won many academic and athletic awards. After high school, Marilyn earned her bachelor's degree in nursing and went on to work as a registered traveling nurse, a career she loved. She was a member of the Black Nurses Association. A woman of faith, Marilyn was a member of the Sound Word Christian Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas under the leadership of Reverend Clyde W. Rice.

Marilyn is survived by her mother, Nancy Lee; siblings: Ronald Dugan, Freddie Sinclaire, Terry Lee, and Bonita Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She loved her family dearly and was loved in return. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Highland Park Cemetery. Condolences may be faxed to Highland Park Funeral Home at 913-371-0801.
