Obituary for James Peter Rues

James P. ”Jim Daddy” Rues, 70, died peacefully on July 29, 2019. Jim was born March 19, 1949 in Garnett, KS to Clarence and Rita (Bowman) Rues. He served in the US Army and was a decorated combat Vietnam veteran. He retired from General Motors in 1999 after 32.3 years of employment.

He is survived by three loving daughters; Tina Coppenbarger, LaRita Byrd (Mike), Jamie Baker (Kelly), Two brothers, CA Rues and Mike Rues. Jim is also survived by and proud of his 5 grandchildren Jake, Chris, Marcus, Kayla and Arlie and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. Many, many thanks to Judy Rae Soetart for being such a dear friend.

Jim is predeceased by his parents, brother, Pat Rues and sister, Mary Beth Mersman.

In lieu of flowers and due to his love of children, he would be honored to have donations made to James P. Rues Memorial Fund at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
