Obituary for JL Brown, Jr. "JB"

Mr. JL Brown “JB” was born on January 28, 1940 to parents, Verline (Adam) Brown and Jim Brown in Dumas, Arkansas. He was the eldest son and upon adulthood, in 1961, he moved to Kansas City, Kansas and made it his home.
JB was united in Holy Matrimony to Florida Turner and during this union, five (5) children were born. Later in life, JB was remarried to Motique Long.
He had accepted Christ in his life, was baptized and became a member of Peace and Fellowship Community Church, Kansas City, Kansas.
JB was committed to working and held on to strong work ethics. He worked as an armed security guard, dump truck driver, and had several night janitorial jobs for many companies. He was a steel worker and a dedicated union member at Columbian Steel Tank Company for over 40 years. Upon his retirement, he began working for the Kansas City Kansas Public School District as a member of the custodial staff.
He was a kind man and willing to give the shirt off his back and would help anyone that would help themselves. He was a good stepfather and he always instilled in all of his children to work and provide for themselves so they wouldn’t have to ask anyone for anything.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim Brown and Verline (Adam) Brown; wife, Motique (Long) Brown; sister, Elizabeth Brown (Swan); brother, Alfred Brown; daughter, Bridget Brown, and grandson, Gregory Brown, Jr.
JB is survived by his children, Gregory Brown, Bridget Brown, Kelvin Brown, Stevyn Brown, Wanda Wheeler, Anita Miller, Donita Miller-Smith, Doris Miller-Green, Ardis Miller, and Darrell Miller; brothers, Murle Brown, Roy Brown, Clyde Brown and Johnny Brown; sisters, Hester Mitchell (Omaha, NE), Nettie Wallace (Herbert) (Dumas, AR), Verline Pittman (Little Rock, AR), and Barbara Lacy (Albert) (Dumas, AR); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and countless other family members and friends.
