Obituary for Donald E. Coty

On June 9, 2020, The Lord called Donald’s name to come home and rest.
Donald was born December 13, 1960 in Alexandria, LA. To the union of Ben and Helen Coty, who preceded him in death. Donald was born one of two sons; he was the baby boy. His only brother, Ben Coty, Jr., preceded him in death.
Donald was known as Coty, to all his family and friends.
His parents relocated the family from Alexandria, LA to Kansas City, KS in 1971 where Donald lived until he died. It was here, Donald went to grade school through High School in the Kansas City, KS school district.
Donald was blessed with 5 children; a daughter, Josephine, at an early age. He went on to marry Tina Cruise-Coty, and to that union was born a son, Donald Coty, Jr. (Little Donald), who also preceded him in death. His third child was born a beautiful baby girl, Donique Coty, then another son, Christian Floyd, and last, but not least, another girl, Brionna White.
Donald had two step-grandchildren, Tashawna Teddrow and Lee Anthony Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters, Carolyn Coty-Wesley of Shawnee, KS and Tenita (Nita) Coty-Murphy, of Omaha, NE; four nephews, Willie Coty and Jaron Coty, of Kansas City, KS, Shawn Kendrick of Springfield, MO and Marcus Coty of St. Louis, MO; two nieces, Dylonda Adams and Robin Wesley of Kansas City, MO; two brothers-in-law, Rob Wesley and Michael Murphy of Omaha, NE; five step-children, Tasha Johnson, Steve, (ManMan) Jackson, who preceded him in death, David Cruise of Kansas City, MO, Charnise Kendrick of Omaha, NE and Chelsa McNeail of Houston, TX; 2 aunties, Stella Anderosn of Kansas City, KS, and Doretha Pollard of Maryland; 3 uncles, Arby Sanders of Illinois, Oscar Blake and Phillip Blake of Kansas City, KS; and a host of great-nephews and great-nieces, and cousins; his maternal grandparents, Edward Coty & Cleo Coty, both preceded him in death.
Donald married a 2nd time to Delphina Coty for a short period of time.
Donald was a man of many talents. He worked as a construction worker for C.L. Fairly in his early life. He went on to work for himself laying bricks. Donald was a free spirit and a self-made man, not one talent could hold him down, always looking for a new adventure; until his true passion for cars. He sold cars for many, many years. Perhaps that may be how you met him. Donald opened a car lot with his cousin Mac Phoenix. Donald loved cars. He drove nothing but the finest of cars.
Donald was so full of life and he lived it to his fullest.
Donald loved his family and friends. If he never said "I love you" you knew he did by that sunshine smile and the laugh he greeted you with. He had a big heart. He was always willing to help his family & friends, even people he didn't know.
Donald accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Alexandria, LA.
Donald was a father figure to all his nephew's and nieces, even some of his cousins. He was Uncle Donald to all of them.
Two things about Donald, if you knew him: he always greeted you with a smile and a helping hand. He loved all his family and friends and was a man of style. He loved to dress to impress.
