Obituary for Cathryn Wilson

Cathryn Marie Wilson was born on March 23rd, 1940 to Ivan and Buetta (Sue) Meyers (both deceased) in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the youngest of three with older brother Alan Meyers (deceased) and older sister, Marilyn Schuler (deceased).
Cathy was raised in the Catholic Church and went through 8th grade at St. Mary’s Catholic School. She later attended Ward High School where her favorite sport was basketball. In middle school she met Damian Phillip Wilson and they fell in love. In August after her graduation in 1958 they began their journey together.
“Phil” joined the US Army and they traveled abroad and back to home from 1958 to 1980. He was first stationed in Bad Tolz, Germany where they adopted their son Kevin. A year and a half later she gave birth to their daughter Renee’. Through his military career they were stationed in Homestead, Fl; Fort Devens , MA; and Fort Hood, TX. Some locations they were at more than one time, but in 1980 he retired to settle back in Kansas City, KS and build their first and only home.
Cathy didn’t like to be idle. Phil was a Command Sergeant Major, Special Forces Division of the US Army so he was often deployed. While solo parenting, she worked hard throughout her life. Cathy worked at a jeweler, helped teach at her children’s school and when back in KCK, managed a large townhome complex.
Cathy and Phil were happily married 62 years and were together until the morning she passed on November 3rd.
Cathy was Grandma to 4 Grand Children; Lacy Brown (Dan); MJ Boyd; Scott Wilson (Becca) and Sarah Hopfinger (Melissa). Her three great grandchildren through Lacy Brown are Peyton, Chance and Colby.
